What the words mean
- ◆ lossless
- The geometry is unchanged. Anything the target cannot store (a unit, colour, the separation between parts) is still listed on the pair's own page.
- ◇ tessellated
- Exact surfaces become triangles. A hole that was a cylinder becomes a many-sided prism. That is unavoidable when the destination is a mesh format.
- ≈ approximated
- A solid is reconstructed from triangles. You get a real solid with planar faces; you do not get cones, spheres, NURBS surfaces or a feature tree back.
