Why people convert AMF to 3MF
This is the migration, and if you have AMF files sitting in a folder it is probably the only conversion on this page you need.
AMF and 3MF were solving the same problem at the same time. AMF got there first, in 2011, and was arguably the better design. 3MF arrived in 2015 with Microsoft, HP, Autodesk, Dassault, Prusa and Ultimaker behind it, shipped inside the slicers people actually run, and won.
Almost everything transfers. Both formats declare their unit, so the physical size is carried rather than assumed. Both store colour, and both keep separate parts separate. What does not survive is the two things AMF has and nothing else does: curved triangles, which carry surface normals at the corners so a cylinder can be genuinely smooth, and graded materials expressed as formulas over the volume. If your file uses either, 3MF has no way to hold it.
What you get
You get a binary 3MF file containing the same triangles the AMF file described. No geometry is added, removed or approximated: mesh-to-mesh conversion is a change of container, and this site's tests check that the triangle count comes out identical.

This pair loses very little. 3MF carries what AMF carries, so the main reason to choose a different target is what the receiving software accepts.
