Why people convert COLLADA to USDZ

Architectural and interior work is where SketchUp lives, and seeing a model at true size in the room is worth more there than almost anywhere else. This is how a .dae gets onto an iPhone or iPad in AR.

COLLADA declares its unit as an explicit scale factor, so the conversion into USD's metres is exact rather than assumed, and the model appears at the size it was drawn. The up-axis declaration is honoured too, which for a SketchUp export is the difference between a building standing up and lying on its side.

Colour comes across. The stage is written as text USDA in the stored, aligned archive AR Quick Look requires.
