The walkthrough uses supplied examples. You can follow along before choosing your own file.

This video tutorial walks through the CADFormats artwork workspace using the supplied badge with a cutout. Follow the same controls to set its width and thickness, inspect the relief, and export it as STL.

Use Artwork to STL to extrude a supported SVG outline into a simple solid relief. This workflow adds depth to an outline; it does not reconstruct a three-dimensional object from a picture.

Open the SVG

Open the artwork workspace and select your SVG. To follow the video, choose the supplied badge with a cutout from Examples.

The badge is a controlled example of an outline with a hole. Start with clear, supported outlines for your own artwork and review any reader warnings before continuing.

Set width and thickness

Enter the physical width and relief thickness. The walkthrough uses a 60 mm width and 4 mm thickness.

Preview the solid and check the proportions. Apply the result when it has the size and depth you intended. Keep the original SVG for later outline edits.

Inspect the solid

Switch between front, top, and isometric views. Check that the cutout remains open and that the thickness matches your setting. Review Model details for the resulting dimensions.

If you need to adjust the result, return to the relief settings and preview the change again. A successful extrusion does not establish that every detail is large enough for your printer or cutter.

Verify and export

Choose STL, then Verify and export. Download the mesh after the output check succeeds.

The artwork dimensions were set in millimetres, but STL has no unit label. Choose millimetres when importing this result into your next tool. 3MF is also available when you want millimetres recorded in the file.

Check the size and cutout again in the receiving application before using the model.
