Open a .usdz file and see it, with its real dimensions and units. It renders in this tab.
Your file never leaves your browser. STEP, IGES and BREP fetch the OpenCASCADE kernel (2.3 MB over the wire); 3DM fetches rhino3dm (2.5 MB before compression); every mesh and scene format fetches neither. Nothing downloads until you pick a file.what we bundle ↗

At this needs roughly here. Whether it fits depends on the geometry, not the size: a large CAD assembly can open, while a much smaller STEP exported from a mesh can run out of memory. If it does, this page says so, and the file never leaves your computer either way.

Why hidden USD geometry can appear here
A USD stage can mark prims invisible, and this reader does not apply those visibility settings. Geometry the author hid is included in what you see, and the warning says so. If a model looks cluttered or has parts inside parts, that is the likely reason rather than a damaged file.
USD states its scale as metres per unit. Where a file declares a value that is not a standard unit, the coordinates are normalised to metres and the file's own number is reported, so you can see what was assumed rather than guess at it.
USDZ is a packaging format aimed at augmented reality on Apple devices, so most files you receive are display assets rather than engineering models. The USDZ guide explains what it carries.
